Walker Tool & Die Featured in MetalForming Magazine

April 28, 2016— Walker Tool & Die has been featured in the April 2016 issue of MetalForming Magazine. In the article entitled, "Tool Design and Build Made SIMple," Walker's use of AutoForm simulation software in all phases of the die-design and die-build process in order to gain efficiency and reduce delivery times is highlighted. Additionally, the article describes how AutoForm simulation software has helped Walker to effectively work with high-strength materials by performing accurate springback-compensation calculations.

Walker Tool & Die Apprenticeship Program Sees Growth

January 11, 2016— Walker Tool & Die suspended its Apprenticeship Program during the recession of 2008-2009. Since being resumed in 2013, the program has experienced rapid growth. As of January, 2016, Walker has (13) Apprentices working towards their Journeyman status: (10) Tool & Die Apprentices, (2) Machinist Apprentices and (1) Machine Repair Apprentice. At the end of 2015, an Apprentice from our North Plant became our first employee to complete his apprenticeship under the new program.

Walker Aquires New Large Capacity AgieCharmilles Wire EDM Machine

September 25, 2015— Walker Tool & Die recently added a new AgieCharmilles Cut 400 Sp to its Wire EDM Department. With the addition of this machine, Walker’s capacity increases to more than 21 by 31 inches with a Z height capacity of 19.7 inches. This machine is able to cut up to a 30-degree taper and has a weight capacity of more than 6600 pounds.
